Position Overview
The Director of Surveying will lead and manage the surveying department, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all surveying projects. This role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of surveying activities, while also maintaining compliance with regulations and fostering innovation in surveying techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the surveying department and manage a team of surveyors and technicians.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate completion of all survey types (boundary, topographic, property, ALTA, etc.)
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to support project goals and client needs.
- Conduct quality control reviews of survey data and reports to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest surveying technologies and software, including aerial drones and 3D scanning.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior survey staff and ensure continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in surveying, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Must be a licensed PLS in the state of Maryland.
- College degree in Surveying or Engineering preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in surveying software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and field survey equipment.
- Strong understanding of surveying techniques, including ALTA, property line, and boundary surveys.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
